Department of General Medicine
The Department of General Medicine is the university’s oldest department. It consists of 29 theoretical and clinical divisions, which makes it one of the largest departments at Siberian State Medical University. The duration of study is 6 years.
For the first 3 years of training, students are mainly focused on theoretical subjects at the departments of biology, medical physics, chemistry, biochemistry, human anatomy, histology, physiology, pathology, microbiology, Latin and foreign languages, social sciences. During the last 3.5 years, students are offered extensive practical training in various fields of internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, public health and prevention. One of the most distinguished features of our medical education is complete practical student-patient experience in all clinical classes. This provides a unique opportunity for students to be well skilled in modern diagnostic and treatment approaches.
Development of research skills based on modern methodology and up-to-date equipment is another important part of the program. All divisions of the department provide facilities for students to be involved in research under the guidance of the advisors from the Faculty.
